CCTV appeal as search ramps up for missing Christchurch teenager

Marley, 17, was last seen in the suburb of Opawa at about 2.30pm on Friday

Drones, boats, and land teams are out in today's ongoing search for a missing Christchurch teenager, police say, as an appeal is launched for CCTV footage.

Marley, 17, was last seen in the suburb of Opawa at about 2.30pm on Friday, and his vehicle was later located in Sumner.

Detective Sergeant Lucy Aldridge said police searched the Scarborough whitewash area yesterday with the help of Land Search and Rescue, Coastguard Sumner, Fire and Emergency, Surf Lifesaving and volunteers.

"Today our search efforts are focused on the surrounding bays and involves using drones, as well as boats and land teams to cover as much ground as possible," she said.

"We are urging anyone in Sumner and Scarborough with CCTV or doorbell cameras on their property to check their cameras from 2.45pm on Friday."

Police said yesterday they believed the 17-year-old could be "anywhere in the city".

"Marley is thought to be wearing black track pants and a dark-coloured hooded jersey."
