Gary Stead has signed back on with New Zealand Cricket after accepting a high performance coaching role.
It comes after Stead stood down from his role as Black Caps head coach in June, after a successful eight-year stint at the helm.
In his new role, he'll be tasked with supporting player and coach development, as well as high performance programmes.
NZC's chief high performance officer Daryl Gibson said the organisation was delighted to secure Stead's services.
"Gary's knowledge and experience in cricket are considerable and the fact he's still passionate and motivated to give back to the game in this country speaks volumes about his character."
Stead will work with players and coaches on average three days a week, and is also able to work outside of NZC - allowing him to fulfil part-time roles like his recent appointment assisting Indian domestic side Andra in their four-day competition.
Most recently, he's been providing interim support to Otago Cricket as well as being involved in a New Zealand Cricket under-19 camp.
"I’m still passionate about coaching and trying to help people learn and improve. If I can pass on some of my skills and experiences to the wider cricket network and in turn help the Black Caps and White Ferns win on the world stage - than that would be really satisfying," he said.
