The Prime Minister has spoken today in Auckland following the release of yesterday's gross domestic product figures, which were worse than expected.
Stats NZ said on Thursday that GDP dropped 0.9% in the June quarter, a steeper contraction than had been expected.
Finance Minister Nicola Willis said the data was a reflection of the impact "global uncertainty" has had on the economy.
She noted there were some signs the economy was growing again as the end of the current quarter approached.
Christopher Luxon spoke from Air New Zealand's newly unveiled Hangar 4 this morning.
He was chief executive of the company when the aircraft maintenance facility was first announced in 2019.
