Body camera footage has captured the moment a Florida police officer scooped an alligator from a swimming pool with his bare hands.
St. Johns County Sheriff's Office shared the video to its social media with the caption "only in Florida", showing Deputy Nathan Richardson scoop up the juvenile gator from the pool, before it wriggles from his grasp.
He then picked it up again — still with his bare hands — and carried it to the patrol car as the family from Saint Augustine watched on in shock.
"You go! Wow… Obviously you grew up here," some family members could be heard saying.
St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said the alligator "wasn’t happy its pool time was over" or about the ride in the patrol car, but it was buckled in and safely relocated to a nearby pond.
"I gotcha, you're fine. I know, you’re super mad," the deputy could be heard saying to the alligator as he buckled it into the car.
According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, alligators are found in all of Florida's 67 counties, with an estimated population of 1.3 million.
