All Whites defender Liberato Cacace signs for Wrexham

All Whites defender Liberato Cacace has signed a three-year deal with Wrexham AFC.

The 24-year-old leaves Italian side Empoli to join the Welsh club, currently riding a global popularity wave thanks to their fairytale meteoric rise up the English football leagues after being bought by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

"I’m absolutely delighted to sign for this historic Club, and I just can’t wait to get started," he told the club's website

“Looking from the outside, what they are creating here is something I want to be part of. The family they have here – it’s a tight-knit Club, and that enticed me.

“I had a great phone call with the manager, and after that, I really wanted to sign.”

The news is perfectly timed, with Wrexham playing Cacace's former club, Wellington Phoenix, in a pre-season friendly this afternoon.
