Heel turn as 51 right foot boots stolen from Brisbane store returned

An unknown man was caught on CCTV allegedly stealing 53 right shoes from a display at a Brisbane store.

The strange case of a man allegedly stealing 53 right boots from a Brisbane store last week has made a heel turn.

CCTV footage showed a man entering a shopping centre in Kenmore on the evening of July 7.

He could be seen walking to a number of bags holding shoes placed on tables in the middle of a common area, putting the footwear into a suitcase and then leaving the shop.

The business, Shoe Fashions Kenmore, released a statement on Instagram about the theft a day after the incident.

"At some point last night, someone treated themselves to a little 'shopping spree' at our covered sale table and took off with 53 right foot boots. Yes — only the right ones.

"Now, we only ever pop the right shoe out on display to stop things going walkabout, and keep things simple. But it seems someone didn’t get the memo. Where 53 right foot boots are off to we may never know?"

The owner of the family-run business, Tamara Shorrock, told 7News police had called her yesterday to inform her 51 of the 53 boots had been found.

“This is just amazing,” she said.

“They’re all in new condition. Not tampered with.

“Best right footed reunion ever.”

The whereabouts of the two remaining boots are unknown.

No charges have been laid following the incident.
