1 Woman who died in Waiuku crash leaves behind three children, including baby

A woman who died in a crash alongside her five-year-old daughter and her seven-year-old niece has left behind three children.

A Givealittle page — which has raised $45,600 as of 3pm — said the "devastating accident" has left her husband "suddenly widowed and the sole caregiver to their three sons".

The car left the road and landed in a creek on Masters Rd in Waiuku on Tuesday.

2 NZ teen paralysed in Vietnam after shock neurological diagnosis

An Auckland teenager who was travelling with her family in Vietnam was rushed to hospital after doctors became concerned about her symptoms.

She was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks nerves, leading to muscle weakness and, in severe cases, complete paralysis.

Her mother described the logistical dilemma with travel arrangements and visa hurdles to bring her daughter home as "hell".

Two people have been charged with neglect, 10 years after the unexplained death of four-year-old Alestra Kepa-Hati in Northland.

Alestra Kepa-Hati died in Kaikohe in October 2015.

A 60-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman have been arrested in relation to the ongoing investigation.

4 Members of the public discover decapitated seals at Auckland beach

The Department of Conservation is asking the public for information after two New Zealand fur seals were found decapitated on Muriwai Beach.

In a second incident at Waiake Beach, a witness saw a recreational boat skipper approaching a pod of dolphins "which were clearly visible and got very close to them".

"It's not acceptable for people to tamper with protected wildlife, and it's illegal to remove a protected species' head," a DOC investigator said.
