The bitter public feud between US President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk showed signs of easing today after Musk posted an apology for his recent posts attacking the Trump administration to his X account.
"They went too far," Musk said.
Their spat began when Musk blasted Trump's "big, beautiful bill" of tax breaks and spending cuts as a "disgusting abomination".
From there the two traded barbs, with Trump threatening to end government contracts with Musk's SpaceX company and Musk linking Trump to files held by the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Recently the attacks have stopped, with Musk deleting many of his scathing tweets, including one calling for Trump's impeachment.
Trump also extended an olive branch in an interview with The New York Times today.
"I think he feels very badly that he said that," Trump said of Musk's social media barrage, adding there were "no hard feelings".
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about Musk's apology by reporters at a media briefing this morning.
"The president acknowledged the statement that Elon put out this morning and he is appreciative of it. And we are continuing to focus on the business of the American people," she said.
Leavitt added the government wasn't looking at contracts held by Musk's companies.
"No efforts have been made on that front, as far as I'm aware."
