Body found in burnt-out vehicle in Wellington 'not suspicious'

A body was found in a burnt-out vehicle in a north Wellington suburb overnight.

Officers were called to Ladbrooke Drive in Woodridge at around 11.40pm following reports of a vehicle fire.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, a body was found inside the vehicle.

"Initial indications suggest the death is not suspicious and the death will be referred to the Coroner," Detective Inspector Haley Ryan said.

Ryan said that while the death was not being treated as suspicious, police were still appealing for CCTV footage to establish the events leading up to the fire.

"Police would like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage in the surrounding streets, specifically Ladbrooke Drive and Woodridge Crescent," Ryan said.

Anyone with information that may be able to help investigators were asked to call police on 105.
