2 Couple convicted of 20-year identity and immigration fraud
Bangladeshi couple Jahangir Alam and Taj Parvin Shilpi were convicted on March 21 after a 13-day jury trial at the Auckland District Court.
The court heard how Alam used his brother's identity to obtain a visitor visa and enter New Zealand, subsequently securing citizenship and filing 14 applications to bring his wife Shilpi to the country.
The pair will be sentenced on May 22.
3 Two Auckland jewellery store robberies possibly linked, police say
The first robbery, which took place at Krishna Jewellers in Papatoetoe, occurred just after 4pm on Sunday while the second occurred at Michael Hill at Mānawa Bay shortly before 7pm, according to Counties Manukau CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Paea.
He said it was fortunate that no staff working suffered any physical injuries, but were "understandably shaken".

Frances Cook has some motivation tips to stay on track, even when you least feel like it.
