A man in the US has been injured after being shot – by his dog.
The man – who wished to remain anonymous – had been lying in bed with his girlfriend and a loaded firearm around 4am on Monday when the incident occurred in Memphis, Tennessee, the Guardian reported.
Oreo, a 1-year-old pit bull, had hopped onto the bed to join the couple when his paw got caught in the trigger, accidentally firing the weapon.
The bullet grazed the man’s left thigh.
"The dog is a playful dog, and he likes to jump around and stuff like that, and it just went off," the man's girlfriend told FOX13.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment.
The couple said they would ensure they kept the safety catch on any guns in their home in the future.
"Keep the safety on or use a trigger lock," she said.
No charges were laid for Oreo or his owner.
