CCTV footage has been released of two alleged burglars attempting to put out their clothes after they accidentally set themselves on fire while trying to torch a car in the Australian state of Victoria over the weekend.

Police alleged that the two offenders entered a house on Swinburne Dr in Wangaratta and stole personal items on January 11 at around 9.15pm.

"It is believed the offenders then set a car on fire outside the residence before running from the scene."

The flames can be seen engulfing the burglars' clothing as they attempt to put out the fire on grass.

Nobody was inside the home at the time of the alleged burglary or car fire.
