A Melbourne woman confronted and chased a masked intruder who had broken into her home, filming and posting the encounter to social media.
Flora Socratous told 9News she was awoken at around 6am yesterday (local time) to the sound of a window rod banging.
After getting out of bed, she discovered a masked home invader, believed to be a man, in her kitchen.
"I was in shock. I wasn't sure if I was dreaming," she said.
Socratous snapped a picture of the man, and then filmed herself chasing the intruder out of her house.
The video shows Socratous following the man through her home, asking, "How did you get into my home?" and "What is in your bag?".
In the video, the invader makes a break for the front door, which appears to be locked, before running through a bedroom and jumping out a window. He then scales a fence and runs off.
"I don't know what possessed me to take a photo or video footage of him, but I'm glad I did," Socratous said.
Socratous admitted, however, that chasing the offender was "silly".
"He could have pulled out a weapon. He could have pulled out a kitchen knife."
She said the man had broken a latch on her window to get inside. Before the chaos erupted, he had even filled her cat's bowl with food, which police told her was a common tactic used by burglars to keep pets quiet.
Police said it was investigating the aggravated burglary, and nobody had been injured during the break-in. It also said that nothing was stolen.
