Tim Seifert impressed behind the stumps and with the bat in the Melbourne Renegades' crushing Big Bash win against the Hobart Hurricanes.

The match broke records for the Hurricanes for the wrong reasons as they scored their lowest BBL total.

Kiwi wicketkeeper Seifert played a key role in his side's six-wicket win in Geelong, restricting them to just 74 runs inside less 13 overs.

Seifert took three catches behind the stumps for the Renegades, including an impressive one-handed take diving to his left.

At one stage the Hurricanes were 32/6 before their captain Nathan Ellis smashed a knock of 35 off 29 balls to make their score slightly more competitive.

Seifert scored an unbeaten 37 off 19 deliveries in the Renegades' run-chase to reach their target inside the 10th over. Seifert was top run-scorer and hit four fours and two sixes.

This was the Renegades first win of the season after losing their season opener against the Sydney Sixers.

The Renegades next match is on Monday against the Perth Scorchers.
