Black Cap Lockie Ferguson has made a great start to his Big Bash career, taking three wickets in the Sydney Thunder's two-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers in Canberra.
Ferguson announced himself to the league in his first over, knocking over Adelaide's opener Matt Short with a fuller delivery which cannoned into off stump.
The Kiwi pace bowler then went for just three runs in his second over.
Jamie Overton challenged Ferguson early in his third over, but a change of strike allowed him to bowl out James Bazley with a perfect yorker.
The Kiwi then took the wicket of Henry Thornton in the last over of Adelaide's innings to leave him with team-best figures of 3-24 from four overs. Adelaide set a target of 183, the highest run-chase in the BBL so far this season.
David Warner returned to captain the Thunder six years on from his involvement in the 'Sandpaper-gate' scandal, after his life ban from leadership roles was lifted in October by Cricket Australia.
Warner managed just seven runs opening the batting, while fellow opener Sam Konstas hit 56 runs off just 27 balls.
Daniel Sams hit 31 runs off the penultimate over to rescue his side from impending defeat.
The Thunder needed three runs from the final over to clinch victory, with Ferguson contributing one run in that over to help them win at Manuka Oval.
