1 Emotions run high as abuse survivors hear apologies from Government, officials
The apology comes after the release of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care in July, which found almost a third of people in state and faith-based institutions between 1950 and 2019 were abused.
Apologies were delivered from multiple state agency leaders and the Government. Prime Minister Christopher Luxon made his official apology to the survivors of abuse in state and faith-based care in Parliament, as about 200 abuse survivors watched on from the public gallery.

Lotto NZ said the man brought some of his children with him to Lotto HQ as he claimed the seventh-equal largest prize in Lotto history yesterday.
"I still can't believe this is actually real," said one of the man's daughters. "It feels like someone's going to pop their head in at any moment and tell us it's all a big joke."
The man is a regular player who picked up his usual ticket at the Albany Central Superette three weeks ago for the October 23 draw.

The Adélie penguin which washed up in Lower Hutt last month had been previously taken to a release point east of Wellington on November 1 but did not go into the ocean.
However, Monday's release on the Cook Strait with the help of the police vessel Elizabeth IV and the Department of Conservation was successful.
