What to know:

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are battling it out to become the next president of the United States.

Current polling suggests most swing states are on a knife edge.

The first polls in parts of Kentucky and Indiana will close at midday (NZT), while Georgia will be the first battleground state to close its polls at 1pm (NZT).
