Kiwi Steven Adams has made a triumphant return to the NBA with his new team the Houston Rockets following a knee injury which has kept him out of competitive action since January, 2023.

Adams scored six points and pulled down three rebounds during his 13 minutes and 52 seconds on the court in the 106-101 victory for the Rockets over the San Antonio Spurs today.

Adams was traded to the Rockets from the Memphis Grizzlies in the middle of last season but did not play due to an ongoing right knee injury.

After surgery, the 31-year-old centre also missed the first three games of the current NBA season due to a left calf strain.

There was extra intrigue on Adams’ return given he was up against Spurs’ phenomenon Victor Wembanyama, who was held to 14 points during his 35 minutes on the court.

The Frenchman did, however, claim 20 rebounds.
