New Zealand have set India a target of 358 runs for victory — and a chance to salvage the three-match series — on day three of the second Test at Pune.

Allrounder Glenn Phillips ran out of batting partners, as the Black Caps were dismissed for 255 in the morning session, adding 57 runs to their overnight lead.

Phillips and wicketkeeper Tom Blundell resumed their partnership and added another 33 runs, before Blundell lost his stumps to Ravi Jadeja for 41.

The remainder of the the NZ batting line-up fell quickly, with the last five wickets falling for 24 runs. The last four batters mustered just five runs among them, as Phillips finished unbeaten on 48, including four fours and a pair of sixes.

He put on 14 runs for the final wicket, before tailender Will O'Rourke was run out for a duck.

India have already lost the first test, but haven't dropped a home series since 2012 against England. New Zealand have never won a series in India.
