A woman rescued seven hours after she became trapped upside down between two boulders in New South Wales has joked there'll be "no more rock exploration for me for a while".

Matilda Campbell made international headlines after getting stuck while trying to retrieve her phone from a 3-metre-deep crevice in the Hunter Valley earlier this month, NSW Ambulance said on social media on Tuesday.

Campbell's friends attempted to rescue her without success for an hour before raising the alarm.

Several boulders – including one weighing 500kg – were removed before both of her feet became "accessible".

"The team faced the challenge of navigating the patient out through a tight 'S' bend over the course of an hour."

The woman was trying to retrieve her phone when she slipped into the crevice.

Campbell was freed seven hours later with "only minor scratches and bruises".

In a Facebook post today, Campbell appeared to be in good spirits despite her terrifying ordeal.

"It's safe to say I'm the most accident-prone person ever," she wrote.

"I am okay – just have some injuries I'm recovering from.

"No more rock exploration for me for a while!"

Campbell also shared a news article about her rescue, writing, "not my feet on display like that" and a laughing emoji.

She was unable to retrieve her phone.
