Key Black Caps batter Kane Williamson is unavailable to play in the Black Caps' second Test against India as he recovers from a groin strain.
Former skipper Williamson, who missed New Zealand's historic recent Test win over India in Bangaluru, will remain in New Zealand to continue his rehabilitation.
The Black Caps created history by beating India in the first Test by eight wickets on Sunday after dismissing the home nation for 46 in the first innings - India's lowest Test total at home.
It was only their third win over India in the country and their first there in 36 years.
Black Caps head coach Gary Stead said that while Williamson was making progress, he wasn't ready to return to Test cricket.
The second Test starts in Pune on Thursday.
“We're monitoring Kane and he's tracking in the right direction, but isn't yet 100% fit,” said Stead.
“We're hopeful to see further improvement over the coming days and have him available for the third Test.
“We'll give him as much time as possible to get himself ready, but certainly continue to take a cautious approach."
