A statue of Queen Victoria has been defaced by red paint in Sydney’s CBD.
Police arrived at Queen Victoria Building at 5.30am local time after vandals had covered the monument in paint across the base and bronze 3m statue.
NSW Police said that a crime scene has been established and have begun an investigation.

The vandalism comes as King Charles and Queen Camilla tour Australia for their five-day royal visit.
They are expected to be visiting various iconic sites across the city today.
The statue depicts Queen Victoria upon a bronze throne and was installed outside the Queen Victoria Building in the 1980s during restoration work.
