Australian senator Lidia Thorpe has been escorted from Parliament House after she interrupted proceedings immediately following a speech by King Charles III, shouting that Australia is "not your land" and to "give us our land back".
Hundreds had gathered in the Great Hall of Parliament House to welcome the monarch and Queen Camilla to a parliamentary reception.
The Victorian independent senator walked up the central aisle of the Great Hall wearing a possum-skin coat after the King's address to the reception and told him she did not accept his sovereignty.
"You are not our King, you are not sovereign. You committed genocide against our people, give us our land back," she shouted.
"Give us what you stole from us. Our bones, our skulls, our babies, our people. You destroyed our land.
"Give us a treaty, we want a treaty in this country. It's not your land, you’re not my king, you’re not our king."

Thorpe could also be heard yelling: "Give us our land back. Give us what we deserve. Just stop. Our babies, our people. You destroyed our land."
The event was wrapped up following Thorpe's outburst.
Earlier in the day, Thorpe had turned her back during the National Anthem and when God Save The King was played outside the War Memorial.
