Aussie Supercars star Will Davison has been passed fit to race, after a spectacular crash at the climax of Bathurst 1000 qualifying at Mount Panorama.

With only seconds remaining in the session and Kiwi Matt Payne holding provisional pole for the 'Great Race', rival Broc Feeney was closing in on fastest time, but his dash for glory was upstaged by Davison's misfortune further down the road.

The two-time Bathurst winner lost control of his Ford Mustang at 'The Dipper', clipping one wall and spinning into another, as debris flew around the car's interior. Fellow racer Nick Percat stopped to help a clearly shaken Davison out of the car.

He was subsequently cleared by the onsite medical team, as his team began to repair his car before Sunday's race. Davison qualified 16th.
