Man dead after water-related incident in Milford Sound

A man has died following a "water-related incident" in the Milford Sound, Southland, yesterday.

Emergency services were called after two people found themselves in need of assistance in the water at about 12.50pm.

Police said a man died following the incident, while another person received minor injuries.

"Our thoughts are with the man’s family during this difficult time."

The death will be referred to the coroner.
