Second person dies after Canterbury crash last week

A second person has died after a two-vehicle crash in Canterbury last week.

Emergency services were called to the crash on West Coast Rd (State Highway 73) in Kirwee, Selwyn District at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

"One person died at the scene and the person travelling with them was critically injured but sadly died in hospital the day after the crash," police said today.

"The sole occupant of the other vehicle is now in a stable condition in hospital."

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
