With his team trailling at halftime, Thames Valley superfan Harper Sandford decided he needed to do something to inspire them in their Heartland Rugby clash against Horowhenua-Kapiti at Whitianga.
Charged with running the ball out for the second half kickoff, the Goldfield School student didn’t simply hand the ball over on halfway.
With the home crowd cheering him on, Harper – wearing gumboots - flexed his muscles, before showing his gymnastic ability, performing a series of cartwheels to the sideline.
Alas, his display of confidence and skill was not matched by the Swamp Foxes, who suffered just their second loss of the season, 41-35.
Regardless of the result, the Foxes may just have found a new folk hero to pin their hopes on for the rest of their campaign.
