One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in Christchurch early this morning.

Police were alerted to the crash on Summit Rd at about 1.25am, a spokesperson said.

"One person died and one person was critically injured.

"Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way," the spokesperson said.
