An opportunity for shepherds to join the royal flock, a surge in sustainable shopping, an '80s icon swings back to life, and a tiny hippo becomes a huge internet sensation.
Royal shepherd
Calling all shepherds — the royal family needs you.
King Charles III is looking for a shepherd to tend to his 2000 sheep at Sandringham Estate.
While it is not quite the King's Guard, the job posting is catching New Zealander's attention all the same.
Sheepworld's farm manager Keanau Andrews said it is a great opportunity.
"A great shepherd is someone who treats every animal like it's the King's sheep."
Sustainable shopping
This month marks New Zealand's first Second Hand September — encouraging shoppers to make more mindful fashion choices.
Originally launched by Oxfam in 2019, Second Hand September promotes re-wearing, reselling, and donating clothing during a month usually dominated by global fashion shows
It's an idea that New Zealanders are on board with. Kiwi-owned website Designer Wardrobe has seen a 14% rise in sales in just one year.
Chief executive Aidan Bartlett said they've seen well over 100,000 people buy something pre-loved.
"It really just highlights that buying pre-loved is now quite a badge of honour."

An icon returns to Rainbow's End
Back by popular demand, the pirate ship thrill ride is returning to Rainbow's End.
Rainbow's End chief executive Susan Mudie said guests were vocal about missing the ride.
"Every day we just get people asking, 'why did you get rid of it?'"
After seven years out of action, the ride will set sail in 2025.
"It looks like a proper pirate ship. It's got a crow's nest and sails. She's beautiful."
A tiny hippo becomes an internet celebrity
Over in Thailand, a tiny hippopotamus is causing a big fan frenzy.
Moo Deng, whose name roughly translates to 'bouncy pig', is going viral on social media.
The baby pygmy hippo has millions of fans online. She has also drawn a surge in the number of visitors to the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand.
The pygmy hippo is an endangered species, with only about 2000-2500 mature individuals remaining as of 2015, according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
