A man has died after being swept down a West Coast river near Greymouth this morning.
Police were called to Davy Creek, near Rapahoe in Grey District, at about 10am.
A rescue helicopter was also deployed to the incident.
"The man was recovered from the water and brought to shore, where CPR was performed. Tragically the man was unable to be revived," police said.
"Police are in the process of notifying next of kin and further information is not available at this stage."
Rapahoe is about 10km from Greymouth's town centre.
