1 'Missing them a lot' - Colleague of SH1 crash victims
A colleague of two Samoan seasonal workers killed in yesterday afternoon's triple-fatal crash south of Auckland says people in Samoa and New Zealand would "miss them a lot".
Police say initial indications are that a truck travelling south suffered a tyre blowout, causing it to crash through barrier wires into the northbound lanes, colliding with a van and two other vehicles.
Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured in the crash on State Highway 1 near Ramarama.

3 'Elevated' arsenic levels in early test results from river that turned bright orange
The levels present are within drinking water and ecological protection guidelines for fresh water.
The discolouration, which appeared to enter the Ohinemuri River downstream of the Waitawheta River, was reported to the council on Friday last week, prompting a public warning to treat discoloured river water as contaminated.
The council expected results regarding downstream samples in the main stem of the Ohinemuri River today, which would provide a "fuller picture" of the potential effects.

5 Tenants awarded over $12k after living in cockroach-infested rental
The cockroach infestation was so bad that the sound of the insects scuttling across the ceilings kept the group of tenants up at night.
The cockroaches were also blamed for two dishwashers breaking down, with one already broken at the start of the January 2023 tenancy.
The tenants' ordeal was detailed in a recently released Tenancy Tribunal decision.
