Police have found a body while searching for a person who went missing after a boat capsized near Jack's Bay in Otago this morning.
"Emergency services were notified around 10.40am and a search was initiated for one person believed to be outstanding in the water," a police spokesperson said in a statement.
"Sadly, a body believed to be the person overboard was located on a nearby beach.
"We would like to extend our thanks to the volunteers and members of the public who assisted in today's rescue efforts."
A second person and dog who were also on the boat were rescued after being found on rocks near where the boat capsized.
Police said a helicopter assisted with an aerial search while rescue vessels, Coastguard Bluff and Coastguard Dunedin volunteers searched the water.
A Coastguard spokesperson said at about 12.30pm that volunteers had been stood down by police.
The boat has been recovered from the water.
