Firefighters from 10 different fire stations are tackling a large building fire in Auckland's New Lynn this evening.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson told 1News they were called to the scene on Portage Rd around 5.51pm.
There are eight fire trucks, two ladder trucks, three special appliances, and three support vehicles in attendance.
The two-storey commercial building, which is being used as a workshop, is located next to a paint store.
Police say they were called to the scene around 6pm to assist with traffic management.
The road is closed between Clark St and Great North Rd.
"Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area and expect delays."
Members of the public have been asked to "stay away from the area" and "respect any road closures while firefighters are at work", Fire and Emergency said.
The blaze is 30mx10m in size.
No one has been reported injured in the blaze.
