Records tumble at Versailles velodrome as Kiwis continue to shine

Records continue to be broken at the Versailles velodrome - with the Olympic record broken six times in the women's sprint, and the world record broken twice.

NZ team sprint silver medallist Shaane Fulton was the one to beat early on - obliterating the national record and setting a new Olympic record of 10.281 for the three lap event.

It'd be broken three more times, before Ellesse Andrews graced the track just 24 hours after winning gold in the Keirin.

Her time of 10.108 was enough to set a new world record - quashing any concern of "tired legs" by commentators from the evening prior.

Both Fulton and Andrews were through to the round of 16 that begins just after 5am NZT, having comfortably won their round of 32 heats.
