Athletes in action: More medals loom for Dame Lisa Carrington at Olympic kayaking

Kiwi K4 team celebrate gold at Paris Olympics.

After adding to her Olympic medal haul with K4 victory, Dame Lisa Carrington can further expand her legacy over the next two nights at Vaires sur Marne Nautical Stadium.

The kayak legend has now won six Olympic gold medals — and a bronze — over four Games, guiding the Kiwi foursome to victory over Germany in Paris.

Tonight, she combines with Alicia Hoskin in the K2 500 semis and hopefully final, seeking to defend the crown she won with Caitlin Regal at Tokyo three years ago.

Tomorrow, she and teammate Aimee Fisher will resume their collision course for the K1 500 podium, after the rivals clocked the two fastest times through heats.

At the velodrome, pursuit silver medallists Bryony Botha and Emily Shearman will chase more success in the women's madison, while Ellesse Andrews and Shaane Fulton contest early rounds of the individual sprint.

Shot putter Maddi Wesche is a contender in her final at Stade de France, after finishing second in qualifying — one of only three to achieve the automatic standard — while golfer Lydia Ko is in medal position for the third round of the women's strokeplay at Le Golf National.
