A house in transit has partially slid off a moving trailer in Northland this morning, blocking a significant road for hours.
Police were alerted to the incident on Kaiwaka Mangawhai Rd in Kaiwaka at 8.53am this morning.
The house has "completely blocked" the road, police said.
"Kaiwaka Mangawhai Rd is expected to be blocked for at least the next eight hours.
"Diversions are in place at the intersections of Gibbons Rd and Redwood Ave, and motorists are advised to expect delays if they are passing through."
There were no injuries.
'Unforseen and unfortunate accident'
In a post to social media, the relocation company involved — Repiles and Relocation LTD — apologised for any delays caused by the "unforseen and unfortunate accident" in the early hours of this morning.
"This is the first time that anything like this has happened to a load!" it said.
"It is an unfortunate chain of events involving road issues [and] trailer tyres, resulting in the load slipping."
It said the crew were "exceptional" at their jobs and had since moved swiftly to get all the permits and paperwork in place to resolve the issue so that the road could reopen.
"We will keep the community updated as events progress ... Thanks so much for all your support and patience."
