Driver, 93, altars course, crashes into church near Adelaide

August 7, 2024

A pastor says it's a "miracle" no one was injured after a congregation member crashed his car into a church south of Adelaide today.

The 93-year-old driver is believed to have mistaken the accelerator for the brakes when he crashed into ClearVision Church in Bellevue Heights, Nine reports.

The vehicle reversed into a fence before smashing through the building.

Around a dozen people – including children – were inside when the incident occurred.

"It was genuinely a miracle no one was hit because we could've been in the line of fire," pastor Scott said.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. No one else was injured.

He was fined AU$300 (NZ$327) for driving without proper control.
