A large blaze has gutted a food shop in Auckland's Pukekohe overnight.
Firefighting crews were called to the scene at about 12.10am this morning.
John Robinson, chief fire officer at Pukekohe fire station, told 1News at the scene that the building was a Polynesian cooking shop.
"We haven't been able to establish the cause yet," he said, adding that flames were "coming out the side of the lower building" when the first Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) staff arrived at the scene.

"We've been up in the top floor there, where we had residents, and they're all safe and evacuated without our support."
Nine fire trucks and two aerial support vehicles attended the scene, with 24 firefighters working to tackle the blaze.
"[It's] the main street of Pukekohe, no-one wants to see a fire down our street," Robinson said.
He called it a "significant" fire.
