Two people have been seriously injured following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 in Waikato.
Police were called to the intersection with Taumangi Road in Putāruru at around 2.40pm.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
Diversions are in place and the serious crash unit has been notified.
Hato Hone St John said four people in total were injured by the crash and responded with three ambulances, one rapid response unit, and one helicopter.
"Our crews have assessed and treated one patient in a serious condition and one patient in a moderate condition who were airlifted to Waikato Jospital and one patient in a serious condition who was transported to Waikato Hospital via road," a spokesperson said.
"One patient in a minor condition was also treated at the scene."
