Debbie Fuller has been reappointed as Silver Ferns assistant coach after having to reapply for the role following the team's disappointing performances at last year's World Cup in Cape Town.

Applications were called for both Fuller's role and that of head coach Dame Noeline Taurua after the Silver Ferns finished fourth in South Africa.

Dame Noeline's reappointment was announced in April, with Fuller's announced today.

Netball New Zealand said it ran a full recruitment process which featured several highly-qualified candidates.

Head of high performance Stephen Hotter said Fullers' vision for the team's future and her alignment with their high performance strategic objectives made her the ideal choice.

"We were fortunate to have a strong pool of candidates," he said. "Debbie stood out among them with her exceptional coaching credentials and her thorough understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest levels of netball."

Fuller said she was thrilled to continue in a position which means a lot to her.

"I am excited about working with the squad," she said. "We have some high-quality athletes who are keen to take the game to another level of dynamic play. It's challenging, fun and always a privilege to help our Silver Ferns explore what they can do with the game."

A specialist coach is also set to be appointed later this month.

The Silver Ferns trialists will be named next week following the conclusion of the ANZ Premiership.
