An 18-year-old needed surgery after being stabbed in a fight that spilt onto the streets of Palmerston North last night.
Police were called to Featherston St near the intersection with Seddon St at around 10.30pm after reports of "disorder".
"Initial enquiries have established that a fight involving a number of people had started at a nearby address and spilled out onto the road," a police spokesperson said.
During the brawl, it is alleged an 18-year-old male was stabbed.
He was taken to hospital where he underwent surgery and was now in stable condition.
"The person who caused the young man’s injuries is yet to be identified," police said.
Investigators were asking anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
