Olympics: Kiwi tennis sensation Lulu Sun gets surprise singles call

New Zealand tennis star Lulu Sun has earned a surprise call up to the Olympics singles draw, after another withdrawal.

She'll become the first tennis player to represent New Zealand in singles at the Olympics since Marina Erakovic at the London Games in 2012.

Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan pulled out which allowed Sun to get the call up. Sun will face Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk.

Sun, who had a spectacular run to the Wimbledon quarter finals last month, will add the singles matches to her doubles schedule with partner Erin Routliffe.

The pair play Italians Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini in the first round.
