Vehicle-motorcycle crash near Palmerston North injures one

One person has been seriously injured following a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle near Palmerston North.

Police were called to the crash near Shannon at around 6.25pm.

"One person has been seriously injured," a police spokesperson said.

The serious crash unit has been notified, and State Highway 57 has been closed near the intersection with Opiki Road with diversions in place.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area," police said.
