Part of SH2 near Ōpōtiki closed after crash involving 2 motorcycles

A section of State Highway 2 near Ōpōtiki has been closed after a crash involving two motorcycles caused serious injuries.

Police were called to the crash in Waiotahe at around 1pm.

"Initial indications suggest that there are serious injuries," a police spokesperson said.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified, and the road between Dunlop Road and Woodlands Road has been closed.
