Legendary American football quarterback Tom Brady is reportedly being courted by the NRL to star on coverage of the season-opening NZ Warriors v Canberra Raiders showdown at Las Vegas next March.
The Warriors have been confirmed as one of six NRL teams — along with a Wigan-Warrington UK Super League fixture and the Australia and England women's sides — to appear at Allegiant Stadium, after the US promotion debuted successfully this year.
The event is designed to create an audience in the lucrative American sports market and the Daily Telegraph reports organisers hope to recruit Brady, one of the NFL's biggest names, to help commentate the games.
As far-fetched as that sounds, the seven-time Super Bowl champion has a past affinity with the code, visiting the Brisbane Broncos during an Australian tour in January.
During an address to the beaten 2023 grand finalists, Brady tossed a perfect spiral pass from the stage into the audience, where it was caught in stride by star fullback Reece Walsh.

Brady, 46, ended his playing career in 2023 and has signed a 10-year contract with Fox media as a colour commentator.
"The visionary support we have had from FOX in the US and Australia for this venture has been truly remarkable," said Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V'landys.
"Together we share the bold ambition for what is possible for rugby league in the US and across the world.
"Las Vegas in 2025 will give rugby league never-before-seen mass exposure in the US market, allowing us to showcase Super League, NRL and international athletes, and win new fans."
