Two people have been seriously injured after an alleged assault in the Christchurch CBD early this morning.
Police say officers were called to the scene on Hereford St just after 4.10am following a "reported assault".
Two people were taken to hospital in serious condition.
"Initial indications suggest those involved are known to each other," police said.
"Inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances of what has occurred.

"While we are not seeking anyone else in relation to this incident, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed anything of note."
