One person has died after the vehicle they were driving crashed into a power pole in Tasman overnight.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash just before 1am.
Police attended the incident at the intersection of Selwyn St and Abel Tasman Dr in Pōhara near Tākaka.
"Sadly, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene," a spokesperson said.
"The Serious Crash Unit was advised and work has begun to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
