One person has been taken to hospital from a house fire in the Edgeware suburb of Christchurch.
Fire and Emergency said it received calls about the fire shortly after 4am and sent two trucks.
A spokesperson said the fire had been contained and all people inside the property were accounted for.
In a statement, St John confirmed it sent two ambulances, one rapid response unit and one operations manager to the scene.
"We transported one person to hospital in a serious condition," a spokesperson said.
