One person has been hospitalised with serious injuries after a crash in east Auckland overnight.
Police were alerted to the single-vehicle crash on Sandspit Rd in Cockle Bay at about 12.15am this morning.
Fire and Emergency (FENZ) and St John also responded.
The person was trapped in the car, a FENZ spokesperson said, before crew members freed them.
They were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
"The vehicle was towed," police said. "Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."
A St John spokesperson said they received the call at about 12.15am and arrived at the crash site at about 1am.
The ambulance service explained: "Hato Hone St John was notified of this motor vehicle incident in Cockle Bay at 12.16am and based on the original information from the scene, the patient was appropriately triaged as non-life or limb threatening.
"An ambulance was not immediately dispatched as all other resources were committed at the time.
"At 12.47am, upon receiving updates from other emergency services at the scene, the incident was upgraded by Hato Hone St John and an ambulance immediately dispatched, arriving at the scene within 14 minutes."
