1 Residents unite against multimillionaire Anna Mowbray's helipad proposal

Anna Mowbray, the co-founder of toy company Zuru, and her partner, former All Black Ali Williams, are asking for their latest application for consent to land helicopters at their Rawene Avenue, Westmere property to proceed without a public hearing. It would become the ninth helipad in an Auckland residential area if approved.

Neighbours fear the suburb could become a "sky highway" which would threaten endangered bird populations and ruining their quality of life.

2 Joe Biden makes multiple gaffes on final day of NATO summit

Biden introduced Ukrainian President Zelensky as "President Putin", and referred to "Vice President Trump" when discussing Kamala Harris during a press conference.

He also gave detailed responses about his work to preserve NATO and what his plans would be for a second term — insisting he will not leave the race as a growing number of Democrats implore him to step aside.

There was still regular coughing and throat clearing. And at times he lowered his voice to a hoarse whisper that evoked the rasp of his voice on debate night.

3 Mobile repair worker allegedly tried to forward himself nude pictures from a customer's phone

The customer confronted a manager at the store, Mobile Planet at Sylvia Park, while her friend Krisy Morrison recorded a video of the conversation.

"She had received a notification on her phone that an Airdrop had failed. Someone had attempted to Airdrop an intimate photo of her to their phone."

Mobile Planet told 1News the employee's shifts had been cancelled "effective immediately" as an internal investigation was underway.

4 Man opens plane emergency exit and falls on Auckland Airport tarmac

Police confirmed a 28-year-old man was apprehended after exiting a plane door on a Qatar Airways flight and landing on the tarmac, injuring himself in the process.

He was attempting to escape police custody while onboard the flight at Auckland Airport, police said.

The man has been charged with interfering with the aircraft, potentially landing him a sentence of up to one year of imprisonment.

5 IRD begins unannounced visits to construction sites

In April, IRD issued a "last chance warning" to the construction sector over untaxed cash jobs. "We’ve been actively encouraging businesses in the construction sector to sort their tax affairs through our Tax Toolbox media campaigns," Commissioner of Inland Revenue Peter Mersi said.

"We’ve also started texting those with high debt to encourage them to get in touch about working things out.

"Debt collection and audits are also now getting underway in earnest."

ONE TRUCK MISHAP

A truck has tipped up on end in Upper Hutt after it tried to lift a big slab of concrete.

"The back hoist was lifting up a big slab of concrete and it was too much weight for it, and it flipped it up, straight in the air, and that was it," a witness said.

Cranes have been sent to put the truck back on its wheels and Worksafe was investigating.
